Wacom MobileStudio Pro 16: specs, price and release date for 2019

Big prices get you big specs in Wacom's new version of the MobileStudio Pro.

Wacom's flagship tablet computer the MobileStudio Pro was first launched back in 2016, coming our way for a review by artist Sam Gilbey where he praised the "highly impressive, professional piece of kit", liking how it doubled as a Wacom Cintiq with its nifty PC connection.

Patient digital artists who had yet to get their hands on a model would be advised to check out the product's latest version, the Wacom MobileStudio Pro (MS Pro 16), which was announced today for a September 2019 release.

As with the previous release, the MS Pro 16 works with the Wacom Pro Pen 2 for a reduced parallax thanks to its 16" etched glass surface with optical bonding. What you get in sensitivity with this model seems to be balanced with a drop in res specs, though, the Pro 16 covering 85% Adobe RGB as opposed to the previous 94%.

The rest of the specs though show considerable upgrades: NVIDIA Quadro P1000 graphics, one gen up from the original MS Pro; Intel Core i7 Quad-core processor; and 512 GB SSD to boot. 4K resolution is the same as previously, along with the 16GB memory storage and 5mp front and 8mp back cameras. That said, the new back door feature allows easy replacement and upgrade of both DDR and SSD memory.

Bundled with Windows 10, the MobileStudio Pro can be relied upon to run full versions of Photoshop and the like. Thunderbolt 3 is also included, along with the Wacom Link™ Plus adaptor which slots into the back of the MSP Pro, turning  into a Cintiq pen display when connected to a Mac or PC. You'll have to buy that separately, though.

We're not sure of the overall weight, but the promo shot below suggests the MobileStudio maintains the integral mobility that marks this out as the Wacom tablet option for creatives on the go.

The Wacom MobileStudio Pro 16 arrives in September and will be available for € 3.599,90 EUR or £3.199,99 GBP at the Wacom E-Store and select retailers. The smaller MobileStudio Pro 13 iteration will follow later in the year.
