An animated Mr Bean will play an interactive game of charades with his 70 million Facebook followers tomorrow, using Adobe’s Character Animator software.
Character Animator lets you animate 2D characters created in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Using the new features, it's become easier to create walking animation and the ability to edit mouth shapes. Check out more of the new features in our new software round-up.
Character Animator also has support for live streaming animations to YouTube or Facebook Live – or at an event, as we saw back in November when Bart Simpson did a 'live interview' at the Adobe Max conference. Live animation requires third party hardware from the likes of AJA, Blackmagic, Bluefish444 or Matrox to take Character Animator’s output and treat it for live broadcast.
The Character Animator Facebook livestream of Mr Bean – beginning Wednesday May 3 at 3:30pm – will feature him performing seven different charades over 30 minutes with sounds from the recently released Mr Bean Soundboard app, and let’s viewers play along. Appearances will include classics from the animated series such as Scrapper the cat.
The animation is the project of global producer and distributor of content Endemol Shine Group, Endemol Shine UK’s entertainment division Silent Boom and Adobe. Endemol is behind iconic television shows such as Deal or No Deal, The Biggest Loser, MasterChef, Big Brother and Black Mirror.
Earlier this year Mr Bean overtook The Simpsons to become the biggest broadcast entertainment brand on Facebook. To give an idea of numbers, Mr Bean averaged nearly 300 million monthly views across online platforms. Last year, The Simpsons aired a live episode using Character Animator.
Mr Bean broadcasts in 195 territories, and encompasses an entire brand world including iOS sticker packs, apps and the recently launched Mr Bean Soundboard app free for iOS and Android users, from Endemic Shine Group’s game developer and publisher Good Catch games.
